Frequently Asked Questions
Is your tutoring program extra practice?
Our tutoring program is not designed to provide the simply extra practice on a skill your child needs practice in. We prepare lessons to reteach skills that your child may not have the time to thoroughly go through during their school day.
How do you know where to start?
We use our own assessments based on your districts learning standards to see where to start with your child. We also partner with you as the parent! If there is something in particular you know your child struggles in or would like to share information from school, we add that to how we prepare lessons. We use as much information as possible to get the most out of our time!
What can I expect in a tutoring session?
Sessions will include a mini reading or math lesson where we model a new skill that they needs to grow in. Your child will then practice it with support and encouragement. We also integrate writing and phonics into reading sessions when appropriate. In math sessions, we integrate mental math and problem solving when appropriate.
Where do you meet?
We meet at Tom Reid Library.

Do you tutor at my home?
Unfortunately, we no longer offer in home tutoring. Students typically focus best when in a neutral, quiet setting like the library. The library also has a great kids section where siblings can play while they wait!
